Matthew Newgent comes from a family of many military veterans. His father was an Army officer and served in Vietnam, where he was decorated with three Bronze Stars, the Purple Heart, and the Silver Star before eventually retiring. Matt has four brothers who have served in the Army, Navy, or Marines.
Matt’s own path toward his service to our nation began as a student ambassador to the former Soviet Union while still in high school. After graduation, he enlisted in the Army during the Cold War as a linguist in Military Intelligence. Matt’s commitment to excellence soon opened the door to an appointment to the United States Military Academy, at West Point, NY, where he majored in Russian and minored in systems engineering. While at West Point, Matt took his second trip to the former Soviet Union. During his trip, Matt saw firsthand how Russia was enjoying some of the benefits of having turned away from communism and was embracing additional freedoms that more closely resembled a free market.
Upon graduating from West Point, Matt was commissioned into the Army Corps of Engineers, became Airborne and Sapper qualified, and earned the coveted Ranger tab. Eventually, Matt lived one of his life-long dreams--being an Airborne Ranger in an airborne combat engineer unit at Ft. Bragg, NC.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Matt worked in professional medical sales for many successful years, and then began his journey as an entrepreneur. He co-founded a medical marketing start-up and later started a service-disabled veteran owned small business providing teleradiology and laboratory services to the government.
In 2020, Jason and Matt crossed paths through their mutual friend and fellow-West Point alum, Glen Whitner. Matt quickly recognized the truth in Jason’s message and the need to broadcast it on a broader platform. The message was that America needs to restore constitutional governance and preserve it for our descendants. To this end, Matt suggested that Jason create a podcast to help educate Americans. Jason responded by asking Matt to be his co-host, and in October of 2020, Patriot Coalition Live was born!
After witnessing communism creep into American society, a presidential election stolen, and the mainstream media covering for political corruption, Jason and Matt realized that restoring constitutional governance and returning to the principles and ideals that made America exceptional would take more than fighting politically. Jason and Matt realized that we also needed to fight economically, so ConservativeEconomy.com was born!
Matt sees Conservative Economy soon playing an important role in giving a voice to patriots at the grassroots level, and empowering liberty across America, but Matt’s greatest joy is his family: marriage to his wife of 21 years and raising their three children together. Matt views his work with Conservative Economy as an example for his teenage-children on how to actively fight for the ideals and principles which made America exceptional, and as a way to preserve the precious gift of America for which a great price was paid by so many to preserve for us today.
Glen Whitner has been married for over 19 years and is the father of 6 children whom they homeschool. His dedication as a father and a husband stems from his firm Christian foundation. He was raised to believe in our God-given American rights, laid down by our founding fathers.
Glen is also a 24-year veteran of the United States Army and a Graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point. Because of his family’s long history of service to our nation, he decided to enter the Army as an enlisted soldier in November of 1989. Shortly thereafter, he served in Operation Desert Storm/Desert Shield as an Airborne Armored Cavalry Scout. As the result of his exceptional performance in that conflict, Glen was afforded the opportunity to attend the West Point Preparatory School and then West Point. Over the course of his 24 year military career, Glen has served in combat 4 different times, and has earned numerous awards and accolades for his performance and leadership abilities.
A few of his career highlights include: logistical development and management for 24 NCAA athletic teams at the United States Military Academy (West Point), recruiting production and management in 5 different states, logistical/fitness advisor for an Iraq Border Patrol Division, and commander of a heavy maintenance company in Korea. His breadth of experience has honed a number of skills, enabling him to quickly asses a situation and determine solutions to even the most complex problems.
After his retirement from the Army in 2013, Glen became a Level 2 CrossFit Coach and USCCA certified firearms instructor. He has opened a number of different successful businesses and is still the owner of a CrossFit gym near his home, as well as proprietor of a firearms training firm.
As a business owner, Glen realized that he needed to be more involved in civic affairs, so he started to engage some of his West Point classmates in political discussions. That is when he reconnected with his classmate Matthew Newgent and long-time friend Jason Mrochek. In a number of separate discussions with Matt and Jason, Glen realized that he needed to introduce them to each other, not knowing at the time, that he would create the circumstances that would ultimately lead to the formation of Conservative Economy. Now as the Director of Business Development for Conservative Economy, Glen is diligently working to create an environment that will provide conservative, God-loving Americans a place shop without the fear of the tyrannical backlash of the liberal left-wing fanatics.
